Lessons Learned

Yesterday, I said farewell to the sketchbook I've been doodling in for the past however many months. I had no idea that I would get such a knot in my stomach as I dropped it into the mailbox.
I think I learned quite a bit about myself through this project. I am not the best artist, nor am I the worst, but I'm learning to be OK somewhere in between. I found that I am much happier with my work when I don't worry so much about it, and the less I think, the better off I am (at least as far as art is concerned!).
I have also found, once again, the passion for learning more and becoming a better artist. In the past several months, I have started following lots of other artists' blogs and finding some great inspiration. I have also learned to not compare my work to other's work so much. My work comes from my soul, and nobody can duplicate that, anymore than I could duplicate someone else's soul.
